MacBook Pro Retina 15" Problems
After 5 good years of use my 2007 White Macbook finally stopped charging and became useless, so I knew it was time to get a new computer. Looking at all the Macbook options, I decide if I was going to get a new one, I might as well get the best I could afford. So after much time convincing my wife to spend $2,300 on a new computer, we went down to the Apple Store and got the 15" Macbook Pro with Retina Display. I have to say it is definitely the best looking computer I have ever seen, and I can never use a non-retina display again.
Unfortunately, the honeymoon was soon over, as a started to have several serious problems. When I first turned it on and looked at the battery gauge said 94%, but only about 4.5 hours of usage left. I didn't actually time it, but I know I didn't get close to that. When I got home and used it a bit I let it drain down to 0% to and then charged it up completely. Since then I has only been telling me that 100% charge will equal out to about 3 hours 45 minutes. With doing casual web browsing and other non processor intensive apps I could just look up every few seconds and watch the battery just drop like Felix Baumgartner. Then after a few days I noticed it getting extremely hot after a few minutes of just web browsing.
I really don't want to have to return it, but I didn't spend so much money to have all these problems. I have tried several things already (including pram reset, terminal commands and smc reset), but nothing has made much of an impact so far.
Has anyone else had similar issues? Should I just return it and get another one or just forget it and get an Air.
