Removable Plate on back of Nexus 10?

Did anyone else notice that in some of the images the Verge has of the Nexus 10 shows a smart cover that seems incorporated with the tablet itself. Upon closer inspection of the images. It seems like the small nexus 7ish textured panel on the back may be removable or replaceable, the cover seemed to completely replace that back panel with one that is attached to a cover. If you look at the image above closely, there is a tiny slot to get you fingernail in to pop the cover off.
