Is samsung on its way to becoming the most profitable tech company in the world?

We all know that for the moment, that title goes to apple with the latest quarterly profit number around the 8 billion range. But Samsung was nipping at their heels in the 7 billion range which kind of shocked me. They seem to be increasing profits faster than apple, and seeing as that android marketshare and dominance is far greater than apple in the world coupled with the fact that Samsung seems to be the go to flagship phone of choice for android, they may soon overtake apple in quarterly profits.

Not going to happen? I kind of hope they don't get there. Not because I want apple to stay on top, because that would mean not enough people are buying high end android devices from other vendors. At the moment, flagship android phones seems to have samsung in a similar position as apple was in the portable music player market with ipods.
