Using a non-Gmail Google account on Android?
So, I created a newish Google account a while ago, with a stupid Gmail address since I was intending to use my Outlook address as the email for the account. I've been using this Google account for YouTube, and to poke around in Google Drive.
However, I'm now incredibly interested in the Nexus 4, since it is going to be available in Australia through Google Play. I'm guessing Gmail will be a better experience that Outlook on Android, but I recently found out I'm not able to revert to a Gmail address other than the one I signed up with. I never gave anyone that Gmail address since I never used it, and I have no desire to use it.
Unfortunately, I can't just create a new account because I don't want to lose my YouTube username. Will I be disadvantaged by using a non-Gmail Google account, or will everything still work fine (payments, services like Google Music, etc)?
