So what Color is "California Blue" 8X?

So I'm wondering if someone can clear up what color the "California Blue" 8X looks like in your hand? It almost seems like depending on how the light is, it either looks purple or blue. All the pictures on The Verge look blue for the most part, the pictures on Phone Arena also look blue, but all the official shots from HTC look purple...

So which is it? If it's actually blue, I want it, but not if it's purple...
