Skeuomorphic Horror
The design of the new Find My iPhone app is baffling. It departs from the clean simplicity of most iOS apps (even calendar on iOS is free of leather) in favour of a hideous font and a strange faux-laminate background. If this wasn't enough the icons are impenetrable. How am I suppose to deduce that a padlock next to a radar screen will make my phone beep when I press it?
Compare this to the aesthetically pleasing new apps like Passbook and you wonder if the the respective designers even work at the same company. The inconsistency and iconography suggest a concerning lack of quality assurance.
