Why do we talk about subsidized phone prices so much?
It seems that people make a big deal about carrier locked phone prices, and even weigh two competing phones, just because of the subsidized price difference. The price up front is a drop in the bucket compared to what you will end up paying by the end of the contract, and for people to freak out that the 8x is more expensive than the L920 on contract on a specific carrier is confusing. In fact, why do we make it a point at all, really, the prices we should only be talking about is Unlocked phones, because of course once you have it, it's yours, not tied down.
Yes I know there are budget conscious people that want to know how much to pay right now, but if you have tight pockets, why are you buying a premium smartphone?
