The Xbox and its success or failure

So apparently Sony has sold 70 million PS3s in 11 less months than the Xbox did. I've also seen some figures saying last year Microsoft sold 12 million Xbox's while Sony sold 14 million. I don't like these figures. Although the Xbox is a smashing success in the American market and to a lesser degree Britain, its beat in Japan and Europe. I really don't care about the Japanese market because they like really weird games but I'm scared about Europe. I don't understand why Microsoft has such a hard time creating content ecosystems throughout the world. I know Xbox live isn't available in several European countries and neither are its content ecosystems. I wish Microsoft would make a cohesive package across the world, I think it would have a lot more success.
