Windows 8.5 Concept

For the most part, I am a fan of Windows 8. However, two things have really bothered me since I started using it: the visibility of menu items for apps and the lack of true desktop support for Metro apps. This concept attempts to fix both those annoyances.

To start, all Metro apps that expose a context menu, will receive the "..." treatment as in Windows Phone. It is subtle, but fixes the issue with menu visibility. In addition, the right corner will introduce a new circle icon. This icon switches between touch and desktop mode for Metro apps.

In desktop mode, the apps are surrounded with the typical Windows chrome. You can maximize, minimize, resize, etc. But, the circle icon also reappears to switch you back to touch mode.

Also, note that the Metro app now appears in the taskbar.
