Apple preparing to copy MetroWhen I first saw Windows 8 back in early 2011 in its first introduction by Steven Sinofsky and Julie Larson-Green I immediately knew it was going to be a game changer in the industry. Pundits all over started criticizing this new approach by calling too flat, too squared, and minimalist. This was because Metro design doesn’t permit 3D icons to present information the way OS X and Windows have being doing for years.
I know, however, deep inside, both Apple and Google started to worry since Microsoft controls the desktop and Windows could be the key for Microsoft to enter in grounds (mobile) only Apple and Google have been dominating. As Windows 8 matured during development, many other Microsoft products began to inherit this new design. Products such as the Xbox Dashboard, Bing, Microsoft portal sites, Windows Phone (which presented the design much earlier than Windows 8), showed Microsoft was seriously committed to Metro.
It didn’t take too long for Google to begin copying Metro and showing it on parts of Google domains. Today, I have just read Apple is going Metro as well. This hasn’t been confirmed but speculations are Apple is currently working on "clean edges, flat surfaces" to replace the textures that are all over the place right now.
So now, let’s just wait and see what Apple has to say when the present to the world the most advanced operating system which they claim OS X is (obviously in their dream).
