Evernote upset some users of its Skitch app after removing several popular features in version 2.0, and initially dismissed criticism by reiterating the company's vision for the future of the app — but a new blog post from Skitch co-founder Keith Lang offers an admission that the company took a wrong turn with its rewrite. Lang writes that "we've underestimated how deeply ingrained Skitch had become in many people's daily workflows and how disruptive changes to the product can be." To rectify the issue, Evernote plans to bring back several features from earlier versions of the app. "I'd like you to know that we're going to fix it," Lang writes.

One of Skitch's most popular features — direct image hosting — will return. Evernote will also bring back auto creation of URLs, short URLs, multiple fonts with custom colors, and other features. All of these features will be available again "in the next few weeks," and Lang writes that "we'll be doing a lot more than just putting improved 1.x features back into the new Skitch."
