Please make the slideshows faster

I just don't understand why Vox has been able to make this fantastic site with such awesome design and features but they haven't developed a decent slideshow. I was just reading this,

and I started going through the slideshow and sometimes when clicking on pictures there was a 12 second delay until the photo would switch. Why is this so bad? In comparison, look at this slideshow on Polygon,

they have these beautiful large slideshows that instantly change pictures. I really hope Vox Product fixes this soon.

Other than that, awesome job on this site, I love it!
