It was a close call between the HTC 8x and the Nokia Lumia 920, but the 920 just is at least one nose length more advanced in almost each category.
The Camera is just extraordinary. Although many say the HTC has more settings integrated in the Camera App the 920 just does not need this and I also don't need to be able for example to shoot a Picture with a sepia filter applied; for that I have other Apps. The Settings on the 920 are just enough to take great pictures; although the pictures could be more sharpen.
Also the mechanical image stabilization is astounding. And hell, taking pictures at night with this Phone just puts you in a trigger-rage-mode because you want to photograph everything. :)
Many claim the lack of Apps Windows Phone currently has makes Phones with this kind of OS a no go, but these people probably did not hear the latest news, that there is an very high amount of new Apps being added to the Store world wide. Most of the well known Apps from other OS' are already there and more to come. And what does App count say about the quality of the Ecosystem?
The Quality of the casing must be mentioned here. You simply do not need a protective cover for that phone, because the casing is very durable and has two different finishes (glossy [white, red] & mate [black, cyan]); either one you pick will be of high quality polycarbonate and in case you drop you phone the casing won't brake like it does on a Samsung Galaxy for example and also the color will be still there in case of scratches - whereas you get the aluminum scream out beneath the anodized casing of the iPhone if you drop that.
In fact, I already dropped my lumia 920 and neither does it have a scratch nor a bump, I also let it slide over rough tables and the phone just don't gives a f**k.
The Display with its ability to recognize even gloved fingers (sensitivity can be adjusted) is perfect for cold weather and you do not need special gloves (okay, after a certain thickness of fabric the screen will no longer respond but man, that must be really cold weather then :) ).
It responds very fast to input and the rounded borders left and right of the display give you a great usabillity because the screen just does not end abrupt.
Including NFC in this Phone is just awesome, not only for Payment but also for automated precesses, like leaving home, shortly tap the phone on a NFC plate and the Phone it self could switch off WiFi, shut down all lights at Home and starts to play Music. (it's just an example, because no App is currently able to manage this automation; sadly)
I f**king love this Phone.
