Photo Sphere, An Innovative or Pre-Existing?

While I'm really glad Android has this 360 panorama feature natively, it would be a mistake to assume it's something revolutionary that's never been done before.

My Galaxy S1 has had this feature for a while through an app called Photaf Panorama.

I am curious to see, however, if stitching performance is any better as sometimes sharp corners cause stitching errors in that app.

So how revolutionary is this feature really? And how revolutionary will it be when Apple adds it to iOS 7?
