I am a Major proponent of all in one systems. The form factors and the big screens sing to me and the thought of getting a 27" touch screen device with Windows 8 appears to be all ivE ever wanted. But I can't help but feel like the all-in-one market is crowded with low-power hardware unworthy of the usually substantial amount of money they require for purchase.
Does anyone feel this way? For starters, Dell currently has the only system with a 2560x1440 display, starting at a relatively high cost of $1,300. After that, the 27" market seems to level out with higher end options having between 8 and 16 gb RAM and then what appears to be (by reviews) a low power GeForce 640 graphics card for around $2000.
My thoughts on the All-in-one form factor are that they should be designed to last many many years, but I don't think the $2000+ price is justified by the seemingly low power hardware. Am I the only one that feels this way? Or is the power of the latest i7 CPUs and the GeForce 640 really a lot higher than I perceive it to be? Or do others feel like the systems today can and will stand the test of time (5+ years)?
