Highways That Glow in the Dark
Read a cool piece on Wired about Netherlands. Apparently, they are planning on rolling out highway markings that glow in the dark. "The studio has developed a photo-luminising powder that will replace road markings — it charges up in sunlight, giving it up to 10 hours of glow-in-the-dark time come nightfall." Other cool things include climate sensitive markings on the road that would display snowflakes when the temperature drops below a certain point to warn drivers of slippery conditions.
