Silver strip around the Nexus 4

I've been searching everywhere trying to find out if the silver strip around the side of the Nexus 4 is actually metal like the Blackberry Bold 9300 or is it just "fake" Chrome plastic? If it's just shiny plastic that's going to be a major downer for an otherwise great looking phone.

Also, has anyone seen the pics on the Play Store? The strip and buttons don't look silver, they look black. I don't know if this is just because the pics are computer generated or if they actually changed the color on the final version.
