Apple Widens Lead as World's Most Innovative Company
Despite the relatively low amount of money spent by Apple on R&D, Booz & Company survey respondents named Apple the world's most innovative company based on results in 2012. What is interesting is that more people named Apple in the top three this year than last year and thus Apple has widened that margin.
Goes to show you how wide the chasm between tech pundits and the average consumer has grown. Also goes to show you that Apple's relatively low R&D spending probably has more to do with focusing on a few products than it does with not investing enough in R&D. I would venture to say that Apple invests more per product in R&D than most companies do. Either way the survey speaks for itself. The general perception is that Apple is far more innovative than their competitors with 80% of respondents listing Apple in the top three most innovative companies.
