Perhaps an unintentional leak, perhaps an oversight, but mostly a reason to dislike Verizon. (I want a Lumia 920)
For what ever reason I was looking at the lumia 920 on windowsphone.com at the page where it lists all of the wireless protocols and standards for the phone. I got a bit curious so I decided to cross-reference it with the standards listed for the Lumia 822. Incidentally, I saw that they both seem to support the same set of standards. Namely:
Lumia 920(via windowsphone.com)
GSM 850; GSM 900; GSM 1800; GSM 1900; W-CDMA 850; W-CDMA 900; W-CDMA 1900; W-CDMA 2100; LTE 2100; LTE 700; LTE 1700
Lumia 822(via windowsphone.com)
GSM 850; GSM 900; GSM 1800; GSM 1900; W-CDMA 850; W-CDMA 900; W-CDMA 1900; W-CDMA 2100; LTE 700
This could mean one of several things:
- The marketing/website department mixed up the protocols
- The marketing/website department groupled together the china mobile 920T variant with the US 920 version
- Verizon is going to get a 920. (as apposed to a 922, which like lumia 820 and 822, would be +2 superior in everyway )
- The current lumia is fully functional on verizon's network, just verizon wont activate it due to exclusivity issues.(verizon phones need to be +2 more superior than At&T phones. That +2 justifies the typical 6 month lag in getting new phones on verizon)
Not sure which is the case, but I really dislike verizon's procedure for getting new phones on their network.
~End rant.
