Google Creative Lab and BERG London carve interfaces out of light
Early in 2011, London-based design house BERG (the same group behind Little Printer and the Guardian Headliner) began collaborating with Google Creative Lab with the objective of bringing Google into the physical world. In a recent blog post, the BERG team gives a detailed look at how the work developed over the course of the year. The result is something it calls Lamps, and it combines projection with computer vision to create optical interfaces on physical objects. It’s probably easier to understand if you just watch the video below, which shows how the concept can be used to interact with services like YouTube and Google Music using simple devices with no embedded electronics — what BERG refers to as "enchanted objects."
