Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 (Wi-Fi)
Reviewed by lowell.greenberg (Currently owns)
In simple terms, coupled with the dock/keyboard, the Transformer Infinity 700 marries the best of two worlds- tablet and netbook. As a tablet it offers exquisite touch screen clarity, brightness, color and balance, smooth/fast performance, reliability and overall superb form, fit and function design. As a netbook, it offers support for unlimited storage expansion, a well integrated keyboard and the ability to experience the superb Android ecosystem of applications, notifications and interactivity.
The only comparable product is Microsoft’s Surface tablet. In comparison there are pros and cons. The Android ecosystem has far more breadth. However Windows 8 on the Surface may offer more interoperability with a desktop running Windows 8. The Surface’s characteristics as a tablet such as screen quality and responsiveness are inferior to the Transformer Infinity. The overall designs of both the Transformer and the Surface have pros and cons.
Both products and the approach they represent have the potential to more effectively move the tablet from a consumption device to a true productivity/content creation device- effectively combining the power and interactivity of a tablet with the productivity of a netbook/laptop.
