NY Times report on tepid Windows 8 sales
But I think Microsoft can still do well with this platform if they do a couple things:
- Come out with a $150 tablet device to steal the entry level user away from Android
- Release the Surface Pro at $399 with a contract for Microsoft Cloud Services
- Partner with OEMs to create flagship Windows 8 devices. The big problem with the platform right now is that their OEM partners don't really care about Windows 8 which is a sentiment that is constantly being echoed by Paul Thurott.
- Ramp up consumer applications for Kinect for Windows.
