What's happening with third-party Twitter apps? Can I buy get Tweetbot already?

I'm tired of Twitter for iPhone and want to purchase Tweetbot. Does Tweetbot still work (or did Twitter kill it already)? If so, for how long will it work? Does Twitter plan on killing third-party Twitter apps for good?
