Three months after releasing a standalone YouTube iPhone app, Google has brought it to Apple's iPad. The latest version of YouTube for iOS also includes another long-awaited feature: support for the iPhone 5's 4-inch display. Videos will now fill the entire screen on the latest iPhone and iPod touch hardware.

AirPlay streaming is another new addition, letting users beam videos to a nearby Apple TV. That device already includes a built-in YouTube app, though expanding that functionality should prove convenient for those looking to share a video on an HDTV or other large screen. Google rounds out the update with some other small but appreciable improvements: users can now add and remove videos from playlists, click links to other videos within descriptions, and tap the app's YouTube logo to view a guide of channels. YouTube is available for download via iTunes.

With the iPad release, Google has filled the last gap remaining after the company and Apple failed to renew their longstanding agreement for a built-in iOS app. Unlike all prior versions of Apple's mobile operating system, YouTube does not come included with iOS 6.
