AT&T and Samsung finally upgrade the Infuse 4G to Android 2.3

54

Lately, we've heard about a number of Android devices receiving the coveted upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich, but we should take a moment to remember there are still souls out there who haven't even been blessed with Android 2.3. Fortunately, Samsung Infuse 4G users will soon be among those that are only one Android version behind the latest — AT&T has started rolling out an update to Gingerbread as of today. It's been so long since Gingerbread was released that it's a little hard to remember what it brought to the table, but AT&T's changelog points out improved copy and paste and a redesigned software keyboard, among a number of other more minor improvements. Of course, it's hard to talk about this without mentioning the fact that there's no good reason this phone shouldn't be getting an update to Android 4.0 — it has very similar specs to the Nexus S, but we likely won't see this update until Samsung finishes TouchWiz for Ice Cream Sandwich. Even then, it won't surprise us if this is the last update the Infuse 4G gets — but it would still be disappointing.
