4k Theaters

I had previously seen 4k and 8k demonstrations from NHK and was blown away. When I heard that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was going to be widely released in 4k I quickly searched for the closest theater to me equipped with 4k projectors. Now, 4k is nothing new to moviegoers who have seen a digital IMAX presentation. Digital IMAX uses two Christie 2k projectors to create a 4K image. The only problem with this is that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was not filmed for or released in IMAX. I found out that AMC is in the process of upgrading all of their theaters with Sony 4K projectors and proceeded to visit the nearest AMC and enjoyed one of the best looking films I have ever seen. There was only one problem. I noticed that the theater decided to go with the Sony projectors because they can be used to show a 2K stereo film. The need for only one projector instead of two saves theaters money. My problem with this is simple. The Hobbit is going to be releases in stereo 4k at 48p. I want to see the movie in stereo 4k. Does anyone out there know of a movie theater chain that is equipping its theaters to display stereo 4k?
