Activision's got a special offer for Steam users this weekend — anyone can install Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and have access to the full range of multiplayer features for free from now until Monday. The game's received widespread critical acclaim since its launch back in November, and currently holds the title of biggest entertainment release of all time having made over $1 billion in only 16 days. And, as far as we're concerned, anything with Gary Oldman in it must be worth playing.

Eric Hirshberg recently spoke about the importance of social gaming in building up brands that customers will return to, so it seems that giving people a taste of the multiplayer experience is in line with that ethos and a great way to draw more players into the game.
