Is there a way I can export or forward a high number of emails from gmail?

I'm trying to do away with Google products, and there are a few emails I want to preserve. I was wondering if the the most feasible way was to use IMAP or POP and save them from there, or if there was an easier way to do it? Is it possible to forward many emails at once?
