My First DSLR: A Refurbished D3100

I just ordered a refurbed D3100 for $449.99 from B&H. Was this a good idea? I wanted to buy a camera that would last me a few years while I got better at photography. My sister is a photographer and owns two D5100s and they are some really great cameras. I was going to get the D3100 for my birthday in 2 months, but since my fiancee and I are going to Chicago in 3 weeks she told me to order it early for myself. I am really excited to start doing some photography and wanted to ask you ladies and gentlemens opinion of this camera. Is this a good price and will I get my monies worth out of it and more? Thanks guys.

P.S. it comes with the 18-55mm NIKKOR VR Lens
