Possibility of PS2 Games on Vita
So this right here is more of a conversation starter. I want to hear other people views so that I can understand whether the Vita can eventually run PS2 games.
As it stands the PS Vita has a Quad-Core ARM Cortex A-9 MPCore processor and a Quad Core SGX543MP4 graphics chip. The PS Vita also has 512MB RAM. The PS has the 64bit Emotion Engine with 266-299Mhz running on the chip depending on whether the model is the original or the slim model system. The PS2 also has 32mb RDRAM.
So from a specifications stand point the PS Vita completely blows the PS2 and in some aspect any regular portable consumer device on the marker currently. I've read around on numerous forums, notables such as wololo.net/talk, gamefaqs among others and it sums up to the fact that the PlayStation 2 Emotion Engine is very hard to emulate by software. It was said not only was it hard but it'll be really really slow. Now the PS Vita doesn't have the 3.2Ghz the PS3 has but it does have but there's cheap computer that can run PS2 Emulators with no problems.
With this being said I leave the table open to thoughts on why there will or will not be PS2 support on the Vita.
