Nokia announced its latest Windows Phone application here at Mobile World Congress 2012 today, and we got a chance to take a closer look at how it works. Nokia Reading will be released shortly as a free application for all four Lumia Windows Phone devices, providing access to an ebook store initially. Nokia plans to issue an update to the application to provide RSS newstream support that will allow Nokia Windows Phone users to pin news publications to their home screen and more.

Nokia Reading works with a Nokia account in a similar way to the existing Music application, and provides in-app purchasing of ebooks and audiobooks. Nokia is positioning the application as another example of how it is attempting to differentiate against other Windows Phone manufacturers. Although the application is fairly unique for Windows Phone, we can't help but feel that this application separation is part of the first steps to Nokia integrating more and more of its own services into Microsoft's operating system.
