Twelve more cities have been added to AT&T's LTE roadmap, meaning that more than 40 markets will be active over the next few months.

AT&T's LTE rollout is pushing on, and we've heard this morning that another 12 markets will be covered by "early summer." While more of the large cities you'd expect are included on that list, the new network's also filtering down to some smaller markets too, ready for the wave of new devices we saw at MWC (as well as the new iPad launched at last week's event).

The markets receiving the upgrade are:

    • Cleveland, OH
    • Akron, OH
    • Canton, OH
    • Naples, FL
    • Bloomington, IN
    • Lafayette, IN
    • Muncie, IN
    • Baton Rouge, LA
    • New Orleans, LA
    • St. Louis, MO
    • Bryan-College Station, TX
    • Staten Island, NYC

These cities will start to go live through April and May, though AT&T's not giving any specific dates of when and where users will see the 4G LTE symbol light up on their device. We were impressed with AT&T's LTE network when we first got to try it back in December, receiving download speeds above 40Mbps (albeit with little to no contention). AT&T might be playing catch-up with Verizon, but with more than 40 cities either covered or soon to be active, it's clear that AT&T's taking it seriously.
