New iPad's GPU benchmarked, actually 3.1 times as powerful as Tegra 3
The first GLBenchmark 2.1 results are in: LINK
The first tests show that you should expect similar framerates on the iPad 2 and 3 at their respective native resolutions (1024x768 and 2048x1536).
The offscreen tests (Egypt and Pro Offscreen 720p) test the tablets at the same 1280x720 resolution and judging by these tests:
- In the GLBenchmark 2.1 Egypt test, the new iPad (A5X) generated 56% more frames than the iPad 2 (A5) and 106% more frames than the ASUS Transformer Prime (Tegra 3).
-In the GLBenchmark 2.1 Pro test, the new iPad (A5X) generated 67% more frames than the iPad 2 (A5) and 210% more frames than the ASUS Transformer Prime (Tegra 3).
