The Nexus is a lie: If you want updates, don't buy a Nexus phone
As a software developer, self proclaimed "tech expert", and Google enthusiast, I've always recomended Android to anyone looking to jump into the smartphone world. Over the years, I've heard a number of complaints from people about their phones not recieving the newest versions of Android, and as a result I began to exclusively recommend Nexus phones.
This was an easy recomendation as the Nexus S was sold on just about every single carrier in Canada, was relatively cheap, and fully unlocked and bloatware free. Now that the Galaxy Nexus is out, it's once again sold by every carrier in the country. What I never expected, was that Google would virtually abandon all of these devices. The Nexus S in Canada never recieved 4.0, and the Galaxy Nexus is still at 4.0.1.
Just look at the Canadian mobile blogs to see the disapointment many feel after having convinced themselves that Google was capable of managing their own phones.
Google, you've made me look like a complete fool for recomending your Nexus phones. I won't make that mistake again.
