iPad shows 71% battery indefinitely

Has anyone else ever encountered this on their iOS device? Whether I'm charging it or using it, the battery never shows anything but 71% charge.

I've rebooted my iPad twice to try to knock some sense into it, but it still just shows 71%.

Nothing else seems to be going wrong with it, so I'm confused.

Any ideas?
