HTC Desire

I've had my HTC Desire for about a year and a half now and it's been a great device to have however there have been some problems. For starters, HTC abandoned support for it after Gingerbread (which was a watered down update anyway) but also the battery life and low internal storage really detriment what would be a really great phone otherwise. User writable internal storage is 136 MB or 148 MB if you root, you will find this quickly begin to fill up as you install apps. Of course you can move them to SD, but even still only part of the app is moved. I rooted my HTC Desire to fix this issue and now I've got internal storage of 700 MB which is more than enough. The battery life problem isn't this easily fixed however, you would need to buy a bigger battery which most likely would leave a noticeable bulge in the back of the device, HTC really should have put at least a 1500 or 1600 mAh battery but 1400 barely gives a day’s use from such a powerful device. The good points include a fast snapdragon 1 Ghz processor, this might not seem that powerful in today's technology realm where dual core is the standard and quad core is soon emerging but it accomplishes most of the tasks of a smartphone with ease. Another strength is in its display, I have the white HTC Desire so it's not AMOLED, it's SLCD and the colours are vibrant and I enjoy watching YouTube videos and other movies on it. Ultimately, if you are willing to root to overcome the low internal storage issue and possibly buy a bigger battery if you want it to last longer, then I can happily recommend this device. Despite being two years old, it's still a great phone, there is no chance of ICS on it though, at least officially so that may cause some consumers to sway away from it.
