Ditching DTV, signing up for Dish w/ Hopper and Joey system

Well, I am a tech junkie so I am a bit disenfranchised with DirecTV's hardware upgrade path lately. I don't really care for "TiVO" service when it doesn't really add anything to my overall experience, and I don't want to have to pay $300 to upgrade to the new "super DVR" they offer. I can get the same price overall with Dish, but have new hardware and pay no install or hardware fees plus for $30 I get Slingbox (now that I have iPad 3 it will really come in handy).

Problem is that I don't hate DTV at all -- in fact I've loved their service. My kid loves Sprout network, but if I can get the same programming on-demand then that's fine with me. Does anyone really think Dish is worse than DTV or are they about the same? I haven't signed a new contract yet or anything so I'm not locked in just yet but wanted to know what you guys thought.

Here's a review of the new Hopper system. I think it sounds fantastic, but I wish that they had given the 3rd tuner to the consumer instead of using it for the Primetime thing.
