When oh when will Nexus NFC payment be available in the UK?!

So the rumour is that Google Wallet will work in the UK before the Olympics. I don't know if anyone knows anything a little more concrete than that?
There is also, apparently, an option through Orange (who I am with currently), although this seems a complete non-starter.
I have a rooted nexus and have a pre-paid card loaded up in my wallet yet can't buy a milkshake from McDonald's with my phone. This pains me horribly.
Anyone know of any way to get these payments through in the UK yet?
