I had to totally nitpick to make this a 9—this device is incredible, on many levels. I think it's going to further change the segment, in which Apple has a sizable lead already. High-res text looks significantly better.

I downloaded:
ArtRage — The painting app from the commercial. Paint over a picture. It works surprisingly well.
AirSupremacy — Immersive flying/dogfighting game, solid graphics, too.
MC3 — 1st person shooter, awesome graphics but hard to get the hang of using touch for me.
Penultimate — Can a drawing/notebook app be fun? Yes.
RealRacing2HD — Again, graphics feel like a console, wish I had a better car starting out.
Garageband — Totally worth $5 for smart strings alone.

I got iMovie and iPhoto, too but haven't really played with them. Load screens look slick.

I don't regret any of the purchases, I'm really impressed by what it's capable of. Battery life isn't as good (on a wifi model), but I'm comparing to 1st gen one I had before which I hardly used because of the resolution and weight. This is a pretty powerful machine now.

The screen looks like glowing seamless liquid or something, everyone is having a difficult time describing it for a reason. It makes interacting with any content a delight. Mentally, it seems to have removed a subtle layer of abstraction from the interacting with software that I hadn't noticed before, but now I do.

The *experience* feels more seamless than anything else I've ever, uh, experienced. The attention to detail is incredible, and so is the potential. Like the iPhone before it, it's an iPad world from now on.
