TiVo tweaks pricing on Premiere lineup, updates Premiere model with 500GB storage
TiVo is tweaking its product lineup this Sunday, replacing the current TiVo Premiere 320GB model with a 500GB hard drive, which the company says will be good for up to 75 hours of HD content. Along with that refresh is coming a new pricing scheme. The price for the TiVo Premiere will be $149.99, which is $50 more expensive. However, the monthly service fee will drop to $14.99 with a one-year contract — though obviously current customer will be sticking at their current levels. Pricing for those who pick up multiple boxes will drop for $12.99. The Premiere XL and Premiere Elite boxes will remain unchanged, but their prices will go to $249.99 and $399.99, respectively.
Apparently the current 320GB model is being sold for clearance prices at various point on the web, so if the expanded storage doesn't appeal to you, it might be worth hunting around for the original Premiere model.
