Apple's 25 billionth app winner profiled, flown to Beijing to collect $10,000 award
Earlier this month the App Store served up its 25 billionth app download, and Chinese site Qdqss reports that Apple flew the winner, Chinese resident Fu Chunli, to Beijing to congratulate her. Chunli toured Apple's corporate headquarters in Beijing, after which she was given an award ceremony to collect her $10,000 iTunes gift card, conduct interviews with the media, and get some training for her iPhone. Qdqss says that Chunli had only purchased her iPhone a month before she downloaded the winning app, and that she initially thought a phone call from Apple staff was a hoax -- only to be later convinced when she received an email from Apple and congratulatory phone calls from her friends. In addition to Chunli getting lucky with a free app download that turned into a hefty prize, the result appears to be a PR goldmine for Apple in China, which has been pushing hard to seize the Chinese market.
