MacBook Air: The Last "Cool" Laptop?
Nilay said a similar story about the iPad being so popular with the next generation of kids and it got me thinking if the MacBook Air may actually be the last "cool" laptop.
I went to a friends kids party the other day to take pictures and when I pulled out my 11" Air then I saw the enthusiasm some kids had for such a "cool" laptop. That never happened with my old MacBook Pro. I guess I never thought about it from a kids perspective but in their world then laptops/desktops are functional but boring because what they really want is a tablet. But the Macbook Air is in its own class because it takes all the "functionality" of mom's PC but puts it in an incredibly thin case so IF a kid would ever ask for a laptop then this would be the one.
So what do you think. Personally, I don't see laptops being appealing to kids unless they start adding touch but many people disagree so Is there anything that will change in laptops to make them more appealing to the next generation or are they a dying breed that will be viewed as a boring appliance?
