Help me get Windows 8 on an Asus X53U (how to make it boot from CD?
My family has a (POS) Asus X53U that no one uses, so I thought I'd put Windows 8 on it. But the catch is I need to dual-boot with 7, because I don't own the computer myself.
I have a DVD with 8 on it that I know works, because I already used in on my friend's tower. On said PC, it said "Press f8 to blablablabla" in the very beginning of the boot sequence, thus I was able to change the boot device to CD-ROM. But on this Asus piece-o-crap, it says nothing during the BIOS screen in the boot sequence. Just an ASUS and an AMD logo.
I have tried some of the fuction key/f number key combos, but I the only thing I've gotten to happen so far is this:
It says (directly translated and in order):
Edit start-up alternatives for the following: Windows 7
Path: \Windows\System32\Winload.exe
Partition: 2
Hard drive: ae14f3c6
[ \NOEXECUTE=OPTIN
The last field can be edited, for what it's worth.
