The Verge is killing my iPad 2 (update)

Hello,

ever since a few weeks ago, loading The Verge homepage has become a tedious waiting game on my iPad 2. Now, I don't have the fastest connection (only 1 mbps) but the site used to load reasonably fast considering how heavy the page is.

Loading it up now, it sometimes takes almost a minute to complete and the site won't be displayed until it's fully loaded. I literally have to put the iPad away while it's loading as interacting with Safari (opening a different tab, for example) will often freeze or completely crash Safari

Opening an article once the homepage has finished loading works as smoothly as always, however.

It's a bit puzzling to me. The problem has been there since about the time the new comment load-up system was implemented. Coincidence?

I'm still on iOS 5.0.1 as I don't want to lose my jailbreak. Now I'm thinking this could be jailbreak related, but I've been jailbroken quite a bit longer than having this problem.

Is there anyone who can reproduce this problem?

P.s. Loading other heavy sites works as well as always.

Update: Guys, I think I've found the culprit. I installed an adblock extension from Cydia and that appears to trouble Safari under heavy load. After disabling the extension, Safari became much more responsive again.

So if anyone's experiencing similar issues, you might want to check your jailbreak extensions. :)
