Why a $300 iPad means a $75 Kindle Fire Special Offers
I know people are going to be focused on the new iPad 3 but what I think is going to be more meaningful is the rumor that Apple is making a cheap iPad. If that's true then the Android OEMs are going to have to counter on price.
Look at the most popular laptop category. It's not the $1,000. Most laptops sold are in the $400 range. That's why it's not hard to believe that they sold 3.9 million in their first attempt at the tablet market. People want cheap computers and there's a HUGE market for it. Amazon didn't even have the benefit of an international launch or retail stores to get to that number.
Amazon likes to drop their Kindle prices about 30% a year for the last year's model (Kindle 3 from $139 to $99) and then they take $40 off of that for special offers.
My prediction based off their history means there will be a.... $75 Kindle Fire Special Offers by Christmas 2012!
