Halo 4: A New Beginning

There's something special about the Halo series that makes them such endearing games. The stories they tell, the multiplayer matches that keep us up to late hours of the night, the relationships that are made from them, and the fact Halo is not a yearly thing that can be predicted before anything is said. All of these things help Halo be one of the most popular franchises in all of entertainment.
Halo Reach was the last game made by the creators of the original Halo. 343 Industries has a lot to prove when it comes to Halo 4. They have to make something that they can call their own and at the same time create something that won't alienate long time Halo players. That has to be a daunting task to try and accomplish. Today 343 Industries has shown of what is to be the first of many early looks at Halo 4. They couldn't have picked a better time to do so. This first look is guaranteed to build the excitement leading up to E3.
What are some things that can be seen in this first look at Halo 4? The first and most obvious is the Master Chief's armor has a new look to it. The Battle Rifle is back in all of its three round burst glory. The BR also has a new look. The long ACOG style scope is gone. The new scope looks like a futuristic EOTech more than anything else. Spartan IV's are going to be used for multiplayer this time around. Unlike Halo Reach the multiplayer maps are going to be built from scratch instead reused campaign spaces. The campaign is talked about little in this first look but more is to be expected at E3.

Halo 4 should be another blockbuster hit for Microsoft so long as 343 Industries can keep what's fun about Halo while still making it their own. I'm excited to see where they take us and to play what they think a Halo game should be. I wouldn't be surprised to see a multiplayer beta announced at or before this years E3.
