Apple as MVNO
The idea of Apple becoming a cellular carrier has been batted around before, but the proposals have been incredibly costly and unrealistic, especially as most only address operation within the United States. Maybe this has been mentioned before, but maybe not: how about Apple purchase wholesale capacity from well-equipped MNOs in the countries they operate and run a network for iDevices? Then perhaps we could avoid Byzantine and hostile operator pricing schemes. It would be another selling point for the iPhone and iPad, and Apple is always simple and straight up with their pricing. I'm not suggesting take the iPhone off every other operator, just provide a new alternative.
Thoughts? How much do you think this would realistically cost?
