Okay guys, I think it's time to give it a rest

So here's the deal. A lot of the Microsoft fans here aren't happy with my Lumia 900 review, and you're also not happy with David's review of the Titan II.

I'm really sorry that you don't agree with our opinions, and I'm really sorry that you think we're being unfair. But the constant attacks and complaints are starting to be a bit much. We're working really hard to be the best in the industry at what we do, and that means we listen to every single complaint and criticism with open ears. We take this stuff to heart, because we're building this site with our blood, sweat, and tears. We're working insanely long days, putting ourselves under a ton of pressure, and striving really hard to do something good.

We know we have a lot more work ahead of us, but I believe in what we do and how we do it. Hearing the same insistent criticism over and over again isn't productive for us, or for the rest of our readers.

You should also know that if our opinions (yes, that's what they are — opinions!) don't match up with yours, it doesn't mean our methods are flawed. It just means we don't agree, and you're upset about it.

So while you're free to disagree with me or anyone else at The Verge, it's time to calm things down. You're making a mess of our forums. You're making a mess of comments. You're ruining what was otherwise an enjoyable experience for a lot of people. Believe it or not, some Microsoft users and fans come here to talk constructively about their passion — not continuously complain about how unfair The Verge is.

We care about our users and the tone of these forums and comments, and we're going to get a lot stricter with moderation as far as complaints about our team and our coverage go. If you want to come here solely for the purpose of attacking people who work their asses off to make The Verge a real thing, expect to be banned and expect to have your posts deleted. It's no longer constructive — in fact, it's damaging to the community we're trying to build. Also, it's just plain rude.

We're trying hard to make this a home for everyone, but when I look at forums and all I see are attacks on me and our team (and of course, our opinions), it's just kind of sucky. It doesn't have to be that way, and we're going to work hard steering things back in the right direction.

Now, before you scream bloody murder and claim that we're trying to silence people who disagree with us, hold up. Again, we hear the disagreements. We see the anger. We get it. You're not pleased. We've heard it for a week straight now. We've basically let the Lumia defenders run rampant. The point is that the sustained message is no longer serving anyone — it's just a way for people to vent. We respect that you're upset, but it's gotten a little bit out of hand.

And this isn't just for the Microsoft fans — anyone here being abusive or repetitive (to us or other users), anyone who is trolling or looking for a fight — expect to be banned.

Chill out, or hit the road. Your choice. But I hope we can remain friends.
