Mobile hotspot battery life: AT&T's aggressive rumored goal

I'm privately hearing from an OEM that AT&T is asking them to shoot for a week of battery life out of their mobile hotspot devices. It's not possible with current technology, but that's what the carrier is aiming for in the long term. I haven't been able to corroborate it with any other OEMs, but it's certainly an interesting rumor.

If you currently rely on your phone for mobile hotspot functionality, would you consider buying a dedicated hotspot device if it offered a week of battery life instead of the 3-8 hours they do now?
