Where does Apple go from here?
When Steve Jobs regained control of Apple as 'iCEO' he made a deliberate effort to slim Apple's portfolio of products cutting the Newton etc. Since then the stream of hardware has been logical and *almost* foreseeable. iPod - iPhone - iPad whilst also maintaining a strong and dependable Mac presence. This has seen huge sales and revenue, with huge market share in almost every field they are in, the question therefore must be posed. Where do they go now?
The portfolio is solid, with the 'low-end' products coming from the previous year's 'top-end' hardware, and exponential growth is sales year-on-year. The rumoured iTV/iPanel and now, as widely reported, a 'console' or Kinect-esque device seem to be the next area for Apple to explore, but is this a good move or a big risk?
I suppose every new venture is a 'risk' per se, even with Apple's cash stockpile, but to me the T.V. market doesn't seem to have the capacity to yield the returns and market share that Apple have come to command over the past decade. What do you think?
